Sir Keir Starmer, the former Director of Public Prosecutions, was elected last year to be the MP for Holborn & St Pancras in north-west London, representing the Labour Party. He was then 52 years old, which is getting on a bit for a new MP, particularly one who has no intention of simply making up the numbers and instead wants to make a major contribution to the party’s future. He’s currently part of Labour’s shadow Home Office team, but it would be a mistake to think that’s the limit of his ambition.
